Breast feeding after breast implant surgery

Is it possible to breast feed normally after breast implant surgery?

Here is recent question answered by Sydney Plastic Surgeon, Dr Damian Marucci, on the breast.com.au forum

Hello,
I had implants put in about 2 years ago. As I am considering having babies in the not too far future I have become a little worried about how effectively you can breast feed with them (as far as milk production). Has anyone out there breast fed with implants? Anyone have any problems? Are there any studies or statistics showing that milk production isnt altered?

And Dr Marucci’s reply was:

Thanks for this excellent question. There is NO evidence that breast augmentation surgery has any impact on your ability to breast feed. The breast implant is placed either underneath the breast gland or else, underneath the muscle (which is underneath the breast gland). The implant doesn’t come between the breast gland and the nipple and so doesn’t affect your ability to breast feed.
